For the last 5ish years, I’ve seen a lot of complains on why the generic isekai we get by the dozens are popular, but I find the answer to that question very obvious: escapism, as they provide an outlet for MC-kun to get free from the burdens of the real world, and enter a fantasy world where he can do whatever he wants, while the high school age viewers places themselves in his place. This anime has an absolutely stellar first episode in particular, but as I continued to watch the story unfold, and like a zombie left out in the sun for too long, I realized that things could only get worse from here. The thing I probably loved the most about this show, was how characters were mostly developed through natural dialogue, a very intimate solution, that made me interested in their stories as if they were friends of mine. But then, the annoying cliché flashbacks kick in... and with the intent of getting the characters closer to each other, they, instead, manage to get the viewer far away from any involvement with them.
